One of those embarassing little moments that seem to litter my life...

It's Father's Day, on Sunday. My daughter's primary school invites parents to join the kids for lunch on Mother's and Father's Day. So, having spent the morning with this and that, I turned up at 12:00 and signed the vistors' book.

I was queueing with my daughter in an orderly fashion (we english know no other way to queue, incidentally!), when the Headmaster chanced along. There were several Dads there, and he hallooed us as a group, thankfully... I just couldn't think of anything polite to say to the guy (he let my son down very badly over some psychological bullying), so I had no choice but to imagine that he wasn't there, until he wasn't.

Fuck it - I'm not going to pretend that everything's OK, when it isn't, and I'm not going to set aside the guy's abject failure. I don't think people in positions of authority should be encouraged to validate bullying, even if they find it convenient to turn a blind eye.

Well good. Sometimes, we contain and let loose later, like how I ran into the original pompous stupid psychiatrist of my daughter's.

Do you mean Brits do not get hostile while waiting in lines? or scootch up to the next person too close or yak on cell phones too loud to pass the time? LOL Americans lack manners, for sure.

What was for lunch?

Stephany: Well, I'd already said all I had to say, via email, and I don't think he's in any doubt as to the way I think he handled things. I don't know what his motivation might be for dropping the ball, but drop it he did. I could have told him to piss off, and created a scene, but life's too short, and I doubt I'd get much support for my position - it only matters if one is on the receiving end.

Anyway, I imagine Brits are as bad at waiting in line as anybody else - we just "tsch" at the person who queue-jumps, and then either overreact completely or else internalize it.

PS It was fish and chips.

I agree with how you feel, I was bullied at school when I was a kid over and over and no one did anything. I wish my parents felt the way you felt. It would have been nice, though I don't hold a grudge against my parents, just still have occasional memories of the kids that bullied me.

Sairs: Well, it started again with a different crowd, when he moved to Secondary School, a year or so back. The new school was equally incompetent, so I took my son out - nobody can cope when one is ganged up on, as he was.

He couldn't understand it, but I did. The school, however, wouldn't intervene, and wouldn't let me intervene. It seems that it (the school), wasn't even able to connect with my son on the level of bare humanity, and if they thought that that was normal, then there was no way I could help them.

There was only one solution... So I removed him from the school. They won't have learnt anything from the episode, of course, because they're too stupid. They probably don't even realize that there was a trivial solution, and I'm not going to tell them what it is, now.

Anonymous: I look forward to your assault on the Vatican, then, you fucking monkey. Do not come back, or I will lobotomize you.

Anonymous: Incidentally, fuckwit, I'm not going to enquire into the motivation for your extraordinary outburst. It smacks of complete bullshit, to me. I think what drives your hatred is something other than you have told yourself. For example, you are a coward (posting anonymously). Do you hate yourself, for being a coward? You should, because it allows you attack people who you think are vulnerable. Such as me. Come on, monkey - have another go.

Anonymous: Three times's the trick... I've decided that I'm not going to lobotomize you... I'm going to do something much, much worse: I'm going to assimilate you, instead, and then I'll offload you on somebody else. See if I don't.

Anonymous: By the way, have you met Ed? Don't listen to him, because he's got a nasty mouth on him - he'll have you doing all kinds of things that aren't in your best interests.
