Book of the Week - The Fish Who Could Wish

This is a children's book, by John Bush and Korky Paul. It's a story about a fish that has the power to make his wildest fantasies come true. I read it to my daughter, tonight...

In the deep blue sea
In the deep of the blue
Swam a fish who could wish
And each wish would come true
Oh, the fun that he had
Oh, the things he would do
Just wishing away in the deep water blue...

...That silly old fish
Wished he could be
Just like all the other
Fish in the sea.

But wishing was something
Other fish could not do
So that was his very last wish
That came true.

It moves me thinking of you reading to your daughter.

susan, stephany, ana: It's a nice little story. Well illustrated, too. I sometimes get a story read to me, too, which is pleasant role reversal!

Stephany: One never knows how these things will turn out. It could be that Lindsay finds fish fascinating for the rest of her life, long after she's forgotten what inspired that interest. Or it may be that she loses interest, and is stimulated by something else. Who knows?

If it's practicable, you might try getting a 10 gallon tank (which would be about 18" wide), for Lindsay's room, at home, and choose something appropriate (ie, small, as an adult), with Lindsay. If you do do that, I think it's important that Lindsay gets to choose, as long as she doesn't choose something that wouldn't be happy in a small tank. For some reason, people flourish when others trust their judgement openly.
